Because My Brain Needed A Break…
ParaKiss. Untitled, WIP? G. Post-series. Drabble, mostly conversation and dialogue. 866 words. Unedited, unbeta'ed. OOC?

Probably needs reworked, because I got more interested in the dialogue than the characters' actions and lost the physical aspects. I've completely lost the bodies by the end and I'm not happy with it. Maybe having tea was too static? Also, not really ended. XD

No C&C please, unless you want to tell me if it's OOC/IC; it tends to kill WIP bunnies. ♥

I suppose next might end up having to be Voltron smut, but that's another issue all together. >_>;

My first marriage didn't even last six months.

In retrospect, I can't even say I was overly surprised when we divorced…

"Caroline!"

White tables, ringed by simple painted metal chairs, were clustered on the sidewalk outside of the small café. It was just past lunch time, and many of the tables were empty. The servers who weren't carrying trays to the few patrons that still lingered, sipping their afternoon tea or coffee and nibbling on pastries, loitered near the front door and spoke low and quiet amongst themselves. Their voices were lost in the passing cars and the chatter of passers-by on the street.

Miwako's voice, still childish despite her age, carried about the noise of the street. She sat up straighter in her chair, a steaming hot cup of tea in front of her, and lifted one arm to wave it excitedly in the direction of the woman walking towards her. "Over here, Caroline!"

Yukari Hayasaka -- Caroline to Miwako and a few others -- smiled at her enthusiasm. "Miwako-chan!" she greeted as the elder woman stood and embraced her in a hug. "How are you? I haven't seen you since Christmas!"

"Miwako's been busy-busy!" the other woman beamed as she sat down. Her hair, no long a pastel pink but a light blonde, was coifed in ringlets on top of her head, but her smile was still bright and cheery. "Anna keeps her that way!"

"I'm sure," Yukari laughed as she settled into her own chair. A server was at her side a moment later, asking the twenty-eight year old woman for her order with a look of awe in her eyes. "Tea, please," Yukari answered automatically. "With honey." Then she turned her attention back to her companion, eyes flitting around for the now two year old girl that normally accompanied her mother. "Ah, where's Anna at anyway, Miwako? With Arashi-kun?"

"Nooo~o! Arashi is at the studio today, so Alice is babysitting Anna for Aunt Miwako so Miwako can have tea with Caroline and talk about grown-up things!"

"Ah, I see, I see," Yukari chuckled softly, leaning back in her chair. "And what sort of grown up things does Miwako-chan want to talk about?" Her tone was light, teasing, but the moment the words left her lips, Miwako's expression sombered. "Oh…that grown up thing, hm?" The older woman -- and she was older, despite all appearances -- nodded. "Miwako, really, I'm fine," Yukari assured, leaning forward and resting her elbows on the table. "We just…wouldn't have worked out. We weren't working out. He's a brilliant photographer, but there was no chemistry between us once things cooled down, ne?"

"But you looked so happy together," Miwako protested softly, stirring her tea. "Caroline hasn't looked that happy since she was with George."

"I think I was happy for a little bit," Yukari sighed, shifting her elbows as her cup of tea was set down on the table. "But after we married and the honeymoon in New York, hm…he didn't understand a lot of things about me, really. He didn't try to." She sighed again and picked up her spoon, stirring her tea briefly before taking a sip. "He wanted me to rid of the dresses, Miwako."

"What? No!" The table shook, Miwako's fists hitting it hard enough to rattle the teacups. "Caroline can't rid of George's dresses!"

"That's what I said," Yukari agreed softly, shaking her head. "But he wouldn't understand. He just saw those dresses and became jealous of them, even when I said I wouldn't wear them anymore, but I had to keep them." Across from her, Miwako's anger dissipated some, though a heavy knot remained between her eyebrows. "I should have noticed it when we in New York, really, but I was so excited to see what George and Isabella have been doing…"

"Isabella?" At her friend's name, Miwako perked up a bit, her eyes wide and surprised. "Isabella is working on costumes too?"

"Ah, yeah, yeah. That's right. I still have to show you and Arashi-kun the pictures from the play, yes? I'll have to bring them over sometime. The patterns on the gowns…they looked like Isabella's work. I guess when she disappeared, she went to Paris with George. I shouldn't be surprised either. They…they were lovers when I meet all of you at the atelier, weren't they?"

"...yeah." Miwako's head dropped a little, eyes averted as she stared into her teacup. "Miwako wanted to tell Caroline, but Isabella was worried you would have been angry. She didn't want Caroline angry with her, so she made Miwako and Arashi-kun promise not tell Caroline."

"Mm…I thought so," Yukari sighed, easing back into her chair and sipping her tea. "I suppose that's what George always meant when he said I was the 'first wife,' hm? Really, if I had found out, I don't think I would have been angry at Isabella. Now…George?"

"Caroline shouldn't be mad at George either, though. That's just how Isabella and George are, so don't be mad at George. Isabella wanted him happy and Caroline made him happy, so she told George to love Caroline too. Anyway, if Isabella is with George, then at least we know where she is now. Miwako was worried. Arashi-kun, too, and Caroline."

"But now we know," Yukari laughed. "I wonder if they're still in Paris."

I know you said no concrit. But ... "He wanted me to rid of the dresses" <--- "rid myself of" is the correct usage, or "get rid of", or "be rid of". http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=rid

Oops...should have used 'get rid of.' XD I said it wasn't beta'ed~ ♥ And I don't consider grammar typos concrit, really. ^_^; I mean going into detail about why something is OOC (I know Yukari talked way too much, for example...) or whether x seemed to work well or poorly. Long analysis type stuff is concrit too me, even though I won't make grammar changes to a rough draft.
